Well rounded through emotion in motion

The realisation that I was battling with when I was young was the purpose of our wonderful life. It is incredibly beautiful, yet I pondered what the purpose of such life was. When I realised that we do not have a purpose and therefore death is very scary because there was a time when we didn’t exist and then a time when we won’t exist in the future and you live in that present period a certain time and it scares the crap out of me still because you only experience what you experience and you won’t exist afterwards.

The feeling I get when I think about it you spiral because you realise your existence on this planet is finite. So the most valuable commodity is time famously said by the character Gordon Gekko. Which is true though because it is something that is so hard to get back and you may be able to slow it down, but according to what we know right now, you can slow it down so much. The hope is that one day we will be able to extend our life significantly.

If we have such a finite life on this planet, how should we spend our finite time in this world? The answer to me became quite obvious when I realised the best thing we can do is do something that goes beyond ourselves and leaves a legacy of us in this world. If we aren’t going to be around at least the remnants and the legacy will.

What is something that can give the world so much while it continues to exist after you? A great company! A great company continues to be its own organism and continues to make people happy and will hopefully last a long time depending on how good of a job you have done. And that gives you a purpose to work something towards.

From that moment my mission was to be a leader that builds a great company. People can be building a company just to make money to sell it or to make one great product. That is not what I think defines a great company. A great company is a company that lasts. A great company produces great products as a result of its existence, not because it has to meet some sort of KPI, but because the people inside it are so passionate about making an impact to this world.

And that is a truly beautiful thing to have. Technology and things become old and obsolete and so do the processes but the one thing that doesn’t are the values and the people that make up that community. What drives us and all always will should ultimately be the engine of our success and inherently the survival of the company. Teaching the ways and values and how the world can be and how we can make it ultimately better.

To never settle and always fight the good fight. To always be in motion, to create emotion.
